David C. Flynn, 94, WW II Veteran, of Boca Raton passed away at Boca Raton Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 29, 2014. Born in Collegeville, Minnesota; raised and educated in St. Paul, MN; he was the son of Catherine and Edward Flynn.
After receiving his engineering degree; he moved to South Florida eventually retiring from IBM after 35 years. David was a proud American; he enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 19 and was stationed on the USS Houston; he was in charge of Radio communication. Unfortunately, he was captured and was listed a POW for over three and half years. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart Ribbon, several medals and stars.
A military funeral honors service will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
David was an avid reader; very intelligent and a well-informed conservationist; he enjoyed classical music and spending time with Beauregard, his devoted dog.
David is survived by his loving wife, Donna Mae Flynn; four proud sons: Shawn of Kelseyville, CA, Dennis of Lakeland, FL, Fulton of Polk City, FL and Cletus of Milton, VT. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Raverty of White Bear Lake, MN as well as his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donations in his memory would be appreciated to the USS Houston Survivors Assoc.
