We are heartbroken to share that Daniel “Dan” Allen Stinson, 71, of Hypoluxo, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Dan was born on January 20, 1954, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Eldon and Eugenia Stinson. A man of many passions, Dan loved Indiana University basketball, the New York Yankees, movies, music, traveling, playing sports, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His love of travel took him to destinations around the world—including Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean, London, France, Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany, Africa, and Costa Rica, among others. His daily joys included going to the gym, taking walks, watching Jeopardy and Seinfeld, eating Entenmann’s donuts, and enjoying good meals at his favorite local spots. Throughout his life he also enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams, scuba diving, and the occasional sky dive or bungee jump.
Dan’s competitive spirit, quick wit, and mastery of words made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him. He made friends wherever he went and maintained lifelong bonds with those fortunate enough to know him. Known for his lively personality, he was happiest surrounded by family and friends. He never shied away from hosting large and memorable gatherings, and if you were lucky enough to have attended one, then you know that he knew how to throw one heck of a party.
After growing up in Michigan City with his brother Dave, he went on to attend Indiana University and was a proud graduate, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was also a member of the Acacia Fraternity, where he built friendships that lasted a lifetime. At the age of 22, Dan took a leap of faith and moved from Indiana to New York City to begin his professional life, where he built a highly successful career in corporate travel sales. During this time, Dan met his wife Donna and they built a beautiful life together, welcoming their son Daniel in 1989 and daughter Jenna in 1994. The family lived in Brick, New Jersey, and later in Toms River, where they created countless cherished memories together. Though Dan and Donna later separated, they remained close friends and continued to share a deep love for their family.
Dan retired to Hypoluxo, Florida, in 2021, drawn to the sunshine and warm weather he loved. A devoted Catholic, Dan was an active member and lector at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Lake Worth. He was also a dedicated teammate in his local softball league and loved taking part in his weekly trivia nights. He was known by all for his intelligence, humor, athleticism, generosity, kindness, and charm. To honor Dan’s memory, we will strive to live as he did by finding happiness in the little things in life.
Dan is survived by his children, Daniel and Jenna, his brother, Dave, his former wife and dear friend, Donna, as well as his grandchildren, niece, nephews, extended family, and many friends who loved him deeply. Dan was predeceased by his parents and his beloved dog, Mara.
