Constance Wright Reid

Constance Wright Reid passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Abby Delray South Health Center.  She was 91.

Connie was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 13, 1928 to Earl Livermore Wright and Ruth Costella Wright.  She spent her youth in New Haven until leaving home to attend Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. While at Dean, she became president of her class.  She met the love of her life, Tom Reid, in 1948 and they were married a year later. 

They moved several times during Tom’s early career, then settled in Perrine, Florida in 1958 .  They lived in Perrine for forty years.  Connie was an avid bridge player and was involved in many volunteer organizations.  She was an excellent seamstress (and made all her daughters’ clothes) and could knit,  needlepoint and quilt.  There was not much she could not do.  Connie also loved to cook and entertain.  She and Tom enjoyed many activities and friends at the Homestead Air Force Base. Their greatest passion was being on the water either in their sailboat or on a cruise ship. They traveled extensively all over the world, loved France, and still retain friendships there.

In 1997 they moved to Broken Sound in Boca Raton to be closer to family.  Connie became very active in the Women’s Club there and made many wonderful friends.  She also continued perfecting her bridge game.  Connie lost her beloved Tom in 2007 and later she moved to Abby Delray South.

Connie is survived by her three children:  Sharon Reid Schreiber, Charles Reid (Lisa) and Carrie Levine (Glenn) and five grandchildren:  Reid Schreiber, Brett Schreiber, Brittany Leahy (Will), Logan Reid (Lyndsey) and Connor Levine.  She has one great granddaughter: Harper Leahy.  Connie was preceded in death by her husband Tom, grandson Grant Schreiber and her special companion (dog) Annie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Connie’s memory to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at Komenflorida.org

A visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, July 11 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton.  For a link to watch the virtual viewing please contact any member of the Reid family.

Arrangements are being made by Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton Florida, and Connie will join Tom for her interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
