CLARENCE L. BAUGH, PhD.
3-31-1929 – 2-20-2025
Dr. Clarence Leonadas Baugh was an accomplished microbiologist, an “Okie from Muskogee”, a veteran of the Korean War, and a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.
Dr. Baugh received his Bachelors and Masters at the University of Oklahoma, his Ph.D. in Physiological Bacteriology at Iowa State University and began his career as a researcher at the U.S. Army Biological Laboratories, Fort Detrick, Maryland. Over his 60+ Year career, he worked on Dr. Maurice Hilleman’s team that developed the MMR vaccine at Merck, was an Associate Professor at Texas Tech University, and formed Custom Biologicals, Inc, a family biotech business producing bacteria for environmental cleanup, wastewater treatment and agricultural uses. Dr. Baugh had 5 patents, and dozens of publications in scientific journals.
Dr. Baugh is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jayne Helena Baugh, his loving children Bill (Yvette) Baugh, Robert (Doreen) Baugh, Barbara (Terry) Baugh Friend, Chuck (Alyson) Baugh and Thomas (Danielle) Baugh. His adoring 13 grandchildren include Nicole (Aaron) Friend Miller, Matt Friend, Chelsea (Zack) Baugh, Rachel (Christian) Baugh-Watkins, Maggie Baugh, Josh Baugh, Charles Baugh Jr, Sammy Baugh, Alex Baugh, Eric Baugh, Bobby Baugh Jr, Katie Baugh, Rebecca Baugh. His adorable 4 great-grandchildren include Audrey Miller, Eevee Taylor, Caleb Miller, and Raven Taylor.
