Claire Labrecque Obituary

Claire Marie Leblond Labrecque, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Sister-in-law, Aunt, Mother-in-law Friend and animal lover, has departed this world leaving all who loved her with a void that will never be filled.

Claire was the daughter of Arthur and Gilberte Leblond. She had only one sister who was her pride and joy Dottie Anna Marie Leblond Bruzzano.  Claire met the great love of her life at the tender age of 15 in church, love at first sight.  Albert Labrecque would declare his devotion for her to Claire's best friend Cecile, "Your friend is the girl I am going to Marry".  And so on November 5th 1955 It would be.

Albert came from 11 so he enjoyed the calm of a much smaller family and the cooking of his soon to be Mother-in-law Gilberte.  Tragedy would follow one year after their wedding as Claires mother died suddenly leaving her at 20 to raise her 14 year old sister to adulthood.

The love of Albert and Claire was so strong there was never a question that this would be, teaching her children the value of family.  Claire was the consummate home maker,

sometimes she wished her life could have followed her much bigger dreams.  Down deep she saw herself as an actress and singer but she had a teenager and two young sons to raise her boys Keith and Paul.  They remember their mom singing into mops and kitchen whisk as she would curate desserts and clean their home, a home that no one could reckon with for its tidiness and aromatic smells.  Her trademark Whoopee pies brought a string of admirers near and far, a recipe handed down to her from her dear mother-in-law Ludivine Roy Labrecque.

What Her boys remember most Is a home of beauty that smelled like heaven, whose doors were always open for a good party.  Claire laughed hard at a joke, she loved fierce, and she left this world on her terms. The tragedy of her life was that her folks and sister predeceased her.

Her husband loved her and her alone for over 73 years as he told her that every day in hospice.  Her elder son Keith took care of her and his dad every day, cared for while playing her favorites 45's, Rummy Cube, and Uno.  She was held and kissed till her very last breath by her younger son Paul, who was holding her fiercely as she passed whispering in her ear "I love you mommie".  Their spouses Ming and Brian thought of her as a mother as did so many children On Carlson Road in Lawrence, Massachusetts, for she was the last great home maker in the neighborhood and she opened that home to anyone who needed a mom at any time.

We hope Claire you are singing in Heaven, you will be forever missed, you will be forever loved.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Monday, October 21 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 21 at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
