Catherine “Kitty” Stadler, born December 11, 1928 in Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully at age 97 on January 15, 2026, in her home in Boca Raton, Florida, leaving behind a long lifetime full of caring friends and family. She grew up in Rochester, with her parents, Henry and Anna Kane, and brothers Joe, Henry, and Peter. She attended Sacred Heart School and Nazareth Academy, and married Frank Stadler (d. 1994) in 1948. They eventually made their home in Chili, NY, and moved to Florida in 1980.
She and Frank raised four children — Frank "Trey", Christopher, Ann, and Lynn. Her grandchildren Aaron and Pearl brought her endless pride and joy. Kitty is survived by her children Frank (Florence), Christopher, Ann (Jill), and Lynn, her brother, Peter, grandchildren Aaron and Pearl, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen, cousin, James (Olga), and many adoring nieces and nephews.
The most important part of Kitty's life was the people she knew. She made friends easily, and all could count on being remembered and acknowledged with greeting cards, thank you notes, and phone calls on holidays and special occasions. Kitty was a good listener, and cared about the details of what seemed like hundreds of people, noting their joys and sorrows (though keeping the details to herself). She didn't gossip, but if asked, she would share about how she knew the people in her life — how they met, how they were connected through other people or events, and stories about the fun they had shared. She loved music, golf, playing cards, watching televised sports, and traveling to visit friends and family. Though she was never loud or boisterous, she was witty, sometimes feisty, shared her opinions freely, and was quick to point out injustice when she saw it. On a lighter side, she loved a bit of mischief, a good party, an occasional costume, and to "have some laughs."
There will be a funeral mass on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 9:30am at St. Pius X Church in Chili, NY.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider contributions made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
