It is with profound sadness and internal love that we announce the passing of Catherine Marguerite Pfretzschner of Boca Raton on March 10, 2025, aged 96.
Better known as Margie to her friends and Shirley to her family, she was born on October 6, 1928 in New York, one of five children to Helene and Felix Crommie.
Margie and Charles married on September 1, 1951 and she devoted her life to raising their two children, Carol and Robert.
Living in California, Charlie and Margie moved their family to Boca Raton in 1969 as part of IBM’s new facility expansion. They quickly met other IBM families which became life long friends. The wife’s were affectionately known as the “Crafties” for their love of the arts and crafts.
Margie was especially fond of family get togethers and was usually the life of the party telling family stories and keeping everyone laughing! She loved and celebrated every holiday but especially St. Patrick’s Day, dressing in a shamrock covered blazer and leprechaun shoes! She was very proud of her Irish heritage.
She also loved Christmas and at one time had a small storage unit just for her decorations!
One of her favorite excursions was “visiting her money at the casino”, her Irish luck kicked in more often than not and she was always excited to be bringing $ home with her.
Margie is survived by her children, Carol and her husband Van Page and Robert and his wife Lauren; her sister Gladys Theriault; her grandchildren Jamie ( Andy) Mills, Evan (Lauren) Pfretzschner, Christopher (Meredith) Page; her great grandchildren Alyssa, Elliott, Callaway and Sawyer; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Boca Raton Mausoleum, Friday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m.
