Catherine Elizabeth Lopker

Catherine “Katie” Lopker passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 in Boca Raton, Florida.  Katie was a blessed 99 years old having recently celebrated her birthday with her beloved family. Her loving husband, Robert Lopker, predeceased her on November 5, 2012.  Katie is survived by her son, Bob (Kathy) Lopker of Boca Raton, Florida; her daughter, Cathy (John) Pennington of Clinton Township, Michigan; and her daughter, Mary Lopker of Algonac, Michigan.   Katie had 4 grandchildren; Bob, Erin, Jim and Jon and 9 great grandchildren.

Katie was born in Bridgman, Michigan on June 26 1925 to Elizabeth and George Ward. She grew up in this small Southwestern town with her brother George and sister Margie. Katie met the love of her life, Robert Lopker in high school and after graduation, they moved to South Bend Indiana, where she attended secretarial college while her boyfriend and soon to be husband attended Notre Dame University. Katie and Bob Lopker married on June 7, 1947. Despite being separated for a period of time during WWII, Katie and Bob were blessed with a long and happy life together for 65 years.  They raised their family in Mt. Clemens, Michigan with love, support, and patience and there began a beautiful life. 

A memorial Mass will be held on October 17th at 10:00am at St. Peter Catholic Church in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.   Following Mass, the family will bury Katie (and her husband Bob) at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.
