Cathy enjoyed her childhood in Carroll along with visits to Spencer Iowa and the Iowa Great Lakes, the original home of her parents. Cathy met her husband, Mike Arts, in Carroll and enjoyed a long friendship prior to their wedding in 1960.
Cathy enjoyed raising her two children, Mary Beth(Dan) Hunt and Peter (Susan) Arts, and truly enjoyed her four grandchildren, Katherine and Harrison Arts and Megan and Matthew Hunt, and one great grandchild, Alice Homan.
Cathy was a mother, community volunteer, a business woman, and a friend to many. She was a long time Girl Scout volunteer in every community she lived in. Cathy served as the President of Florida’s Palm Glades Florida Girl Scout Council. In addition, she was past chairman of the Florence Fuller Development Center and past president and board member of the Boca Raton Historical Society. Cathy, along with her husband Mike, received the 1999 Ronald G Assaf Benefactors Award from Boca Raton’s St Jude Catholic Church and the 22nd Annual Boca Raton Award from Lynn University in 2002.
She enjoyed bridge, mahjong and reading. She was an excellent cook and entertainer. Cathy and Mike loved to travel and enjoyed it when friends and family would visit them in Florida.
Cathy is survived by Mike, her husband of 64 years, daughter Mary Beth(Dan) Hunt, son Peter(Susan) Arts, grandchildren Megan Hunt, Matthew Hunt, Katherine Arts and Harrison Arts, and great grandchild, Alice Homan.
