It is with deep sorrow and enduring love that the family of Carnes Parfait announces his passing on November 2, 2025, at the age of 92. A proud Haitian, devoted father, educator, activist, and storyteller, Carnes lived a life marked by purpose, courage, and integrity.
Born and raised in Arcahaie, Haiti, to Gabaliese and Eugenie Parfait, Carnes was the 7th of 8 children. He attended Frere de I’Instruction Chretienne for Primary school and Lycee Toussaint Louverture in Port Au Prince for Secondary school, where he excelled greatly in Mathematics. He later founded his own school Lycee Solomon where he taught grades 1-6. As a mathematics teacher he was known for his firm yet fair approach. His students often described him as tough but unforgettable.
Carnes’s unwavering commitment to justice and honesty extended beyond the classroom. As a vocal critic of corruption in the Haitian government, he faced persecution for his beliefs and ultimately fled his homeland, seeking safety and opportunity in the United States. There, he built a new life from the ground up, turning his skill with numbers and keen financial sense into a successful career as a technician for RCA and the State Department of NYC.
He was the beloved husband of Marie Violette, and the loving father of four children. His late daughter Jamie, Karn, Karnie, and Marie- Laurie.
Carnes remained deeply connected to Haiti throughout his life. He was a founding member and secretary of “La Solidarité,” an organization dedicated to fostering unity, education, and support within the Haitian diaspora.
Known affectionately as a “Met Ca, or Met,” Carnes carried a zest for life that never faded. Whether he was playing dominoes, debating world events, cheering for a soccer match, or charming friends at his assisted living home, he left a lasting impression.
Carnes Parfait will be remembered as a man of deep conviction and abundant heart—a teacher, father, and friend whose legacy will endure in the many lives he touched. Preceding him in death are his parents, Gabaliese and Eugenie Parfait, his wife, Marie Violette Larouche Parfait, his daughter, Jamie Parfait, siblings, Palmeria Parfait, Andrema Parfait, Edgar Parfait, Eugine Parfait, Pierre Parfait, and Enite Dume. He leaves behind his sister, Carmen Parfait, his surviving children, Karn Parfait, Karnie Verrett, St. Duc Verrett, Marie Laurie Parfait and Marcus Davis. His grandchildren, Terrell, Kanisha, Kyle, Kahalia, Jabari, Darcyn, Nia and Jaden. He also leaves behind an enormous extended family, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM on Saturday, November 22 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM.
