Brian Hinners Obituary

Brian James Hinners, aged 61, of Delray Beach, Florida, entered eternal rest on November 2, 2024, with his family lovingly by his side. Born on August 30, 1963, Brian was a dedicated family man, survived by his dear wife, Jessica Hinners; his mother, Mary Hinners; and his beloved children, August, Brittney, and Alexander; and his grandchild, Liam Ives. He also leaves behind a cherished circle of nieces and nephews: Christian Sacia-Garcia, Skye Roventini, Jack Roventini, Alexandra Hornung, Jack Feltmeyer, and Cate Feltmeyer.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Brian spoke admiringly of his Midwestern roots and childhood, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing outside until dark during summer, swimming in the many beautiful lakes, spending time with his adored grandparents, Dr. George, and Bette Wegmann, and rooting for his beloved Green Bay Packers on crisp fall days. Going "home" to Wisconsin yearly was a much-anticipated event.

Brian received his degree in Economics and Management from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.   Brian was a respected real estate professional with a career spanning 40 years.   After college, Brian worked at the Barry Colliers Company, Wisconsin's largest industrial and commercial real estate brokerage firm. His transactions included the sale of facilities for Square D Company, Harley Davidson, and Johnson Controls, as well as the sale of large retail-development parcels and national restaurant locations.

He joined Auburn Group in 1990 and was instrumental in developing, leasing, selling, financing, and managing the company's Florida properties, including affordable senior and family tax-credit apartments, single-family homes, condominium homes, and townhomes. These developments won numerous awards throughout his career, including the National Association of Homebuilders' "Finest Affordable Housing Community in the Nation" and the National Council on Senior Housing's "Best of Senior's Housing Award." While Brian had an esteemed career, he valued community over accolades. His most meaningful roles include when he served on the Board of Directors for The Milagro Center, a Delray Beach non-profit organization for local youths and the Palm Beach Community Land Trust.

While Brian's professional endeavors kept him busy, he always dreamed of his next travel destination.    Brian's favorite Saturday morning past time was enjoying his coffee outside while reading his travel publications.  Once he had decided upon a location, he would conduct in-depth research on the local culture and create a memorable itinerary.   One of Brian's greatest passions was skiing.   If Brian could combine skiing with a trip, that was even all the better as far as Brian was concerned.   Brian hoped to ski in Japan but was fortunate to have experienced terrain such as Chamonix, Courchevel, Zermatt, Cortina, and his treasured Jackson Hole.

Brian had a profound love for his family and friends, and his life's purpose was their well-being and happiness.   The overwhelmingly common sentiment expressed about Brian was his purity of heart, kindness, and genuine respect and interest in others.   Even in his most extreme times of distress over these past grueling months, he continued to inquire about the welfare of loved ones and would share in their sorrows and cheer for their victories.  His gentle and quiet strength was a source of comfort to many during times of need.  Brian had an inherent sense of gratitude that was only heightened by his cancer journey over the past five years.  He was able to find beauty in the simplest moments and connect with others in a meaningful way.

Fatherhood was Brian’s crowning achievement.   There was no greater joy for him than spending time with his children.   His greatest wish for them was to be happy and content and contribute positively to their communities.   While Brian’s time was short with his youngest son, August, the valued lessons and love he imparted to him will be a great source of solace, guidance, and wisdom as he embarks on the various chapters of his life.

Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital, the Mass General staff, Dr. Warren Brenner, and the many medical professionals we have as devoted friends who fought tirelessly for Brian during his medical journey.  You are forever in our hearts.

“I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious.”  -Vince Lombardi     Brian was a cherished member of his community and a beloved figure in his family.  He will be deeply missed by all who know him.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 840 George Bush Boulevard, Delray Beach, Florida.   In lieu of flowers, donations to the Place of Hope in memory of Brian Hinners are appreciated.  http://placeofhope.com/donate
