Beverly Della (Skeans) Petersen
Della Petersen passed away on October 4, 2025, in Boca Raton, Florida, where she had resided since 1986.
Born on July 20 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Della was one of ten children. She was the beloved daughter of Agnes Jensen and was raised by Carl Jensen, whom she lovingly knew as her father. Her biological father, Ora Skeans, passed away when she was young. Della’s early years were shaped by family, resilience, and a strong foundation of faith that guided her throughout her life.
Della devoted her life to caring for others. She began her nursing career at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and continued her work as a nurse in Fort Myers, Florida, and later in Boca Raton. She worked alongside her husband, Dr. Roger Petersen, at Beckett, Barnhill and Petersen, and concluded her professional career at Levine, where she later retired. Her compassion, strong work ethic, and integrity were evident in every role she held.
A devoted Christian, Della loved the Lord with all her heart. She read her Bible daily and faithfully prayed for those she loved - always by name. She was truly a prayer warrior, steadfast in her faith, generous in spirit, and a source of comfort and strength to many.
Della was deeply devoted and protective of her family, whom she loved dearly. She was caring, thoughtful, and considerate, with a wonderful sense of humor. Athletic in her younger years, she loved tennis and softball and raised her children to value strength, discipline, and activity. She loved great popular music and artists, always keeping up with the latest styles, and found special joy in the beauty of the moon - often sharing photos of it. One lyric she loved captured her outlook on life well: “Here comes the sun, and I say, it’s all right.”
She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Roger Petersen; her children Christopher (Elena) Oquist and Stephanie (Kevin) Gunderson; and her stepchildren Monty Petersen, Beth (David) Petruzzelli, and Brad (Melissa) Petersen. She was preceded in death by her stepson, Gregory Petersen.
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Zachary, Jillian, and Gianna Oquist; Austin (Monica) Gunderson and Ashley (Elochukwu) Eze; Maya, Sasha, and Hana Petersen; Nicolas and Matthew Petersen; Allie (Cameron) Somers; Michael Mitchell, Jayden, and Paul Rodgers, Sofia Petersen, and her beloved granddaughter Keira Petersen, who preceded her in death.
Della was blessed with great-grandchildren Carolina, Kekoa, Leger, Raelynn, Kayla, and Rin who brought her immense joy. She is further survived by her siblings Ruby Andersen and Daniel Skeans.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, located at 2041 W. Cypress Creek Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33309.
Della will be remembered as a woman of deep faith and great character - timeless in her style, always elegant, and deeply rooted in faith - a devoted wife and mother, a prayer warrior, a loyal friend, and a tireless worker whose love and legacy will continue through generations.
