Arthur L Gandelman, 102, of Boca Raton, Florida died of natural causes on January 20, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Estelle Krivonos Gandelman.
He was born to Samuel and Mary Gandelman in New Haven, Connecticut and resided in Connecticut most of his life. He was a graduate of Hill House High and the University of Connecticut. Arthur was a veteran of W.W.II serving as a medic in the European Theater. He was a microbiologist at the Connecticut State Department of Health retiring after 50 years of government service. He was also the founder of Connecticut Biological Laboratory, a biotech company, and was co-owner of Associated Medical Laboratory, a diagnostic laboratory at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.
Arthur was known for his exceptional scientific knowledge, his strong work ethic, his integrity, and excellent business skills. Additionally, Arthur had a great sense of humor demonstrated by his jokes and comical sayings. He loved his many dogs; and he was a grand aficionado of Mark Twain and loved to quote him. He also was a life long learner as he attended many elder hostels and took numerous classes at FAU. His hobbies were photography, boating, UConn Basketball, and amateur Radio.
He is survived by his daughter, Naomi Bonsignore and her husband, Michael, his son, Mitchell Gandelman MD, PhD and his wife, Kuan PhD, NP and his daughter, Martha Gandelman. He leaves behind four grandchildren (Michael, Danielle, Jason, and, Erin) and their spouses and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandchild Elizabeth and one great grandchild, Fiona.
He leaves his dearest partner of 22 years, Marilyn Burstin and his much valued caretaker of seven years, Jennifer McKenzie.
Funeral arrangements will be coordinated by Glick Funeral Home in Boca Raton, Florida. The burial will take place in Storrs, Connecticut at a future date.
