Archdeacon Faye Somers
November 7, 1953 - February 19, 2026
Faye Somers, a devoted Teacher, Chaplain, and Archdeacon of the Diocese of Southeast Florida and a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, and Colleague, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 at the age of 72. She is survived by her children Amanda, Andrew, and David; grandchildren Ismael, Imran, Andi, and Oliver. She was preceded in death by Father John Grizzle and Mother Edna Isadora Brown.
Born on November 7th in Lamb’s River, Jamaica, Faye lived a life marked by compassion, faith, wisdom, & unwavering dedication to others. Above all, Faye treasured her family. She was a loving and devoted Mother, a proud and adoring Grandmother and a cherished Aunt and Cousin to many. Her family was her greatest joy, and she nurtured each relationship with warmth, grace, and steadfast love.
In her calling as a Deacon, Faye offered comfort, guidance, and spiritual strength to those in times of joy and in times of sorrow. Her presence brought peace, her words brought hope, and her faith was a steady light for many.
She was an educator for over 40 years, beginning her career in Toronto, Canada. As a teacher at Verde Elementary and Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, she shaped countless young minds with patience, encouragement, and a deep belief in the power of education. Her classroom was more than a place of learning—it was a place of belonging, inspiration, and growth. In 2024, as an answer to God's calling, Fahasoavana (meaning GRACE) School in Manamby, Madagascar was started by and dedicated to Deacon Faye Somers and her donors. The two large buildings with six classrooms is occupied by 220 students.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the lessons she taught, the prayers she offered, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
To honor Faye's memory, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to supporting Fahasoavana School. https://educationequalshope-bloom.kindful.com/?campaign=1264841
