Anthony Matthew Nicolaides born November 16, 1932, in Khartoum Sudan, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2022.
Educated in Egypt and Italy as an engineer. In his younger years he was an avid sailor, tennis player and enjoyed competing in decathlons in Africa.
Anthony had a servant’s heart and contributed much of his time serving the church. Anthony spoke multiple languages and participated in the gospel readings of the Agape service in Italian. He was an executive member of the AHEPA for over 50 years. He was recognized for his service for outstanding commitment to the community and received the Archdiocesan medal of St. Paul Archangel, and the Archangel Michael Honors.
He immigrated to New York City in 1965 where he worked as an engineer for JWP Waters for over 30 years. He retired and relocated to Florida in 1995. He had a passion for gardening, golfing, and enjoyed spending time with his friends playing biriba (card game) anytime he could.
He is survived by his loving wife Marina (nee Efstathiadis), daughter, Corinne Mattioli (Dean), son Dr. Nestor Nicolaides (Despina), and four grandchildren Johnathan Mattioli, Evangeline Mattioli, Zachary Nicolaides and Gabriela Nicolaides, all of whom brought him an immense amount of joy and happiness. May his memory be eternal.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 19 at St. Marks Greek Orthodox Church where a Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Boca Raton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church in memory of Anthony Nicolaides.
