Anthony “Tony” Vincent Malatino
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor, Anthony “Tony” Vincent Malatino passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, family, friends, and cherished dogs.
Born in Castiglione di Sicilia, Italy, Tony immigrated to the United States aboard the USS LaGuardia in 1949, settling in Albany, New York. He graduated from Philip Schuyler High School and Siena College before serving honorably as a U.S. Navy Officer for four years. Tony built a distinguished career in finance over five decades. Starting with First Albany Corporation, EF Hutton—where he served on the Board of Directors—and most recently, Morgan Stanley.
Alongside his wife, Robin, he played a pivotal role in reviving Saratoga Spring Water in 1992 and later established Sugar Plum Farm, a renowned thoroughbred breeding farm in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Tony’s quick wit, infectious smile, love of golf, horse racing, and cherished Sunday dinners will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Robin, his beloved dogs, Emma and George, and his children: John, Ann (Stephan), and James (Kristin). He was a proud grandfather to Sage, Hudson, Aria, Winston, Samantha, and Rosalie. Tony’s legacy also lives on through his nieces and nephews—Maria, Thomas, Michael, Riley, and Dylan—as well as his Sugar Plum Farm family (Ana, Crystal, Chris, and Belinda) and extended family members David and Tobin Rask, Elliott, Kelly, Jillian, and Lucas Throne, Kim, Rod, and Ashlee Hawk, and all his cousins in Sicily. He is also lovingly remembered by his in-laws, Naomi and Richard Prever. He was preceded in death by his devoted mother, Mary Malatino; father, Gaetano; and his siblings, Grace and Joseph.
Tony’s remarkable life, filled with love, laughter, and generosity, leaves an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
