Andrew Brian Cleland

Andrew Brian Cleland Sr., 76, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, September
8th at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.
Lovingly known as “Drew” by his friends and family, he was born February 8th , 1946, in Detroit, Michigan,
to John and Mary (Wiegand) Cleland. Drew graduated from Detroit High School (1964), attended
Tennessee Military Institute, and graduated from the University of Michigan.
Drew’s sharp wit, charm, and photographic memory made him a highlight to any gathering. A talented
chef, he was happiest when cooking for others, a trait he passed on to many of his children. He had
many careers over the years, but he was most proud of his role as Dad and Grandpa.
Predeceased by his first wife Sandra Lee Cleland (Rogers) and survived by his wife Carol Ann Dawson
(Pflug) of Boca Raton, FL, two sons William Cleland of Boston, MA, and Andrew Cleland Jr. of
Woodstock, VT, three daughters and sons-in-law Meredith (Angelo) Vissas of Hadley, MA, Adrienne
(Charles) Occhino of Milton, MA, and Kate (Jason) Turner of Windham, ME. Drew is also survived by his
eleven grandchildren, Grant, Jonathan, Laura, Lily, Elle, Helen, Maggie, Francesca, Ephie, Liam and
Holden.
A deep baritone, he joyfully sang in the church choir at St. Anne’s and then continued on as a member of
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winston Salem, NC.
