Anders Kaare Finnvold

Anders Kaare Finnvold, age 91, a long time resident of Boca Raton, FL passed away peacefully August 30, 2021.

Anders was born to Carsten and Selma Finnvold in Sandnes, Norway on February 20, 1930. Anders was one of five children and grew up loving snow skiing, raising and training harness racing horses and playing bridge.

After serving in the Norwegian Army, he came to the United States to attend the University of Minnesota to obtain his dental degree - and follow in his father and brother’s footsteps of becoming a dentist. Blessed with an array of talents and charm, he excelled in athletics and academics. He graduated with both his undergraduate and dental degree simultaneously in 1959. He proudly served as Captain in the US Army’s 88th Medical Detachment in Germany. Anders loved to travel and spent time exploring the United States and all of its many beautiful sites. He had a true love for the United States, a sense of patriotism and appreciated all this country offered him.

He met his wife, Carol Kay Olson, in Minnesota and they wed July 15, 1960. They briefly moved to Norway before returning to the United States and relocated to Boca Raton, Florida where he established his dental practice in 1963. Anders was well liked and respected by both his peers and his patients. The Finnvold’s became very active in the community. Anders was a member and supporter of Advent Lutheran Church where he served on various boards; including 10 years on the Advent Lutheran School Board.

He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who actively participated in the grandchildren’s lives by attending their sporting events, school functions and hosting Sunday night family dinners at his home. He is survived by his 3 children: Monique ( Murray ) Jarman, Jill Finnvold VanDresser and Gar ( Adriana ) Finnvold, and his 8 grandchildren: Shane, Nicole and Christine Jarman, Samantha, Alexandra and Kirsten VanDresser and Carsten and Alexis Finnvold and his newly born great grandson Dean Murray Jarman. All of his family will miss him but his presence will never leave us as he has made such a great influence upon each and every one of us.
