Alice Lindner Obituary

Alice Mae Lindner, 93, of Boca Raton passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2019 at Advent Square.

Alice was born in Pittsburgh (McKeesport), Pennsylvania to Frederick John Lindner (1894-1981) and Barbara Catherine Bornemann (1898-1977). She was the second child born to Fred and Barbara. Following Alice were brother Harold Frederick Lindner and sister Barbara Ann Lindner, all of Pittsburgh.

Alice graduated from Carrick High School in the Pittsburgh Public School System in June 1943 and started working at Fidelity Trust Company Bank during her senior year. She continued to work at the Carrick branch after graduation. When promoted to the main location she would take the streetcar to downtown Pittsburgh. Alice worked in the banking industry for 28 years.

Upon the birth of niece Bonnie (1962) to sister Barbara and brother-in-law Richard S. Coy in South Florida, Fred and Barbara decided to retire and move near their new grandchild. ‘Aunt’ Alice joined them and in 1963 all moved into a house on N.E. 8th Street in Boca Raton. That house still exists today. Many happy memories were made in that home and yard. Alice was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt.

With years of banking in her background it was a natural fit for Alice to join the staff of Dr. Paul Layman, Chiropractor. His office was in downtown Boca Raton on Palmetto Park Road. There Alice maintained the books and appointments for the office. On occasion, niece Bonnie would be allowed to ‘try out’ the chiropractic machines. Alice retired after 35 years of service to the Layman family.

A faithful member of Advent Lutheran Church for over 50 years Alice enjoyed many activities with the PALS and YES groups. Along with attending Bible study she also taught Sunday School. It was a natural fit for her to move to Advent Square in early 2011 as she approached her golden years. There she enjoyed bingo, movies, and the companionship of other church members. Her hobbies included reading, doing word search puzzles, and in her younger days, roller and ice skating.

Alice is survived by her beloved niece, Bonnie Coy-Svenson (Sven) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two grandnieces, (Lauren and Kristen), two great grandnieces (Olivia and Charlotte) and one great grandnephew (Lucas). In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Margaret Marie Lindner (1923-1923), Barbara Ann (Lindner) Coy (1935-1970), brother-in-law Richard Coy (1925-2010), brother Harold Frederick Lindner (1927-2010) and sister-in-law Fern (Hartman) Lindner.
