Aleen Weppner Obituary

Aleen Virginia Weppner, known affectionately as Ginny to her friends and Aunt Dot to her loving family, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, in Boca Raton, Florida, at the age of 95.  Born on November 21, 1928, in Erie, PA she completed her education at Stratford High 1947 and furthered her studies at Vermont Junior College.

Dot dedicated 25 years of her career to the U.S. State Dept, serving under presidents Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan.  Her remarkable career took her to various U.S. Embassies around the world, including postings in Israel, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Luxembourg.  Her intelligence, matter-of-fact nature, generosity, and compassion marked her both professionally and personally.

A devout member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Dot was deeply involved in her faith community.  Throughout her life, she supported many churches and was known for her steadfast faith and commitment.

Ginny's passion for travel saw her exploring the world, with memorable trips to Belgium, Paris, France, Germany, Spain, Egypt, and Italy.  Her adventurous spirit also took her across the U.S. to places like Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, often in the company of her niece, Judie.

She is survived by her nephews, Daniel Weppner (Daphne), Michael Weppner Sr. (Kerry), Chris Weppner (Michele), and nieces, Mary Kaye Pepperman (Scott), and Judith Artman.  Ginny was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Weppner (Joanne), sister Patricia Artman (Robert), and nephew James Artman.

A private family service will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida.  Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton, Florida, is assisting with the arrangements, and her final resting place will be at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York.

Ginny will be remembered for her dedicated service to her country, her deep faith, and her love for her family and friends.  Her legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to inspire those who knew her.
