Sandra Torquato Obituary

Sandra Nell Godsey Torquato passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:45am in Boca Raton, FL. Sandy was born September 25, 1928 in Bluefield, W. VA to Nellie Irene & Thomas Godsey. She was older sister to Charles Godsey (deceased).

Sandy met and married Richard Torquato In 1951 after having dated for only 6 months. She moved with Dick back to where his family resided in Windber, PA after completing her undergraduate in chemistry at Bluefield College which she self funded through her successful modeling career.

After 16 years of trying to have a child, Sandy and Dick welcomed their only child, daughter Natalie, into the world on January 22, 1967. Sandy chose to leave her medical career, temporarily, to raise her only child.  In 1977, the family moved to Boca Raton where they have resided since. Sandy eventually returned to her beloved medicine in 1983 until she retired at age 78.  Together, Sandy, Dick & Natalie traveled extensively both domestically and internationally. Sometimes toting along their beloved dog, Koko.  Sandy was an accomplished artist who loved to paint and sketch. She also was an avid animal lover having grown up with dogs, cats and birds as pets. Sandy was kind and generous to everyone she knew and met. She had a love of couture fashion which she passed down to her daughter and was rarely seen without looking her very best.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard, daughter Natalie, son in law Darren Gross and 4 grandchildren, Janeane, Sidney, Pepper and Paisley as well as many relatives and friends.

Sandy’s ashes will eventually be interred at St. Anthony of Padua cemetery, in the Torquato mausoleum, Windber, PA. There, she and husband, Dick will spend eternity together, along with the ashes of their adored Bichon Frise, Tiffany.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, January 11 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton.  A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy be made in Sandra's name to "Feeling Fine Canine & Equine Rescue" 754-234-7027.
