Ruth M. Sheller

Ruth M. Sheller, a pioneer resident of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on June 23, 2017 in Delray Beach before returning to her home in Sebring, Florida where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law.

Ruth was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 29, 1920.  She wintered in Boca Raton for many years before her permanent move in 1947.

After her high school graduation, Ruth attended the John Roberts Powers School, then went on to the Arnold Constable Fashion House in New York City.  She was the owner and director of a Modeling and Charm School.  She also taught Ballroom dancing and had a cosmetic line.

She enjoyed the golfing world at Tumble Brook Country Club in Connecticut as well as The Boca Raton Hotel & Club and Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Ruth wrote a fashion column for the Boca Raton News.  She helped organize and held fundraisers for the American Heart Association and St. Joan of Arc Church.   She was the former owner of Royal Palm Florist and a restauranteur and proprietor.

She enjoyed music - singing and dancing, traveling, playing poker and mah jong.  She wrote several children’s stories which she always intended to publish.   She once wrote that her greatest accomplishment were her children – James Spaulding II, Deborah Benson, Stephany Bremer and Travis Taylor.    Her love for life and family was truly inspiring.  She was the most wonderful, loving and amazing mother and most of all best friend.  She is loved and missed every moment “our mother, our angel”.

Ruth is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws:  Stephany & Robert and Travis & Ron; grandchildren:  Stephany,Tiffany, Stephen and Carleigh. Great-grandchildren: Joseph, Katrina, Shyanne, A’aliyah, Kenneth and Michael; great-great grandchildren:  Ma’liya, A’miya and Zoe.   

She will always be in our hearts and our memories of her will last forever.  

Services and burial were privately held.
