Rose Berndt Obituary

Rose A. Berndt passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton.  Her children were at her side as she left this world and entered the Kingdom of Heaven.  She was 86 years old.

Rose was born to parents Pasquale and Teresa Maselli Alimonti in Peekskill, New York where she was raised and educated.  She met the love of her life, Frederick Berndt, and they wed on September 10, 1950.   Frederick was drafted into the military and transferred to Oklahoma.  Their first daughter was born before their return to Peekskill.  Rose was a devout wife and amazing mother, creating a warm and loving environment for her family.   Rose and Frederick eventually retired to South Florida 18 years ago.  They moved into “The Palms” in Deerfield Beach where they enjoyed meeting new friends.  Rose loved spending time swimming and talking with friends at their pool.   What she loved most of all, was being surrounded by her family.  She was an excellent Italian cook, there was nothing better to Rose than family eating together and enjoying each other’s company.

Rose was a very religious person.  As a devout Catholic, she made sure her children had a relationship with God.  Although she will be greatly missed, the family takes comfort that she is now happily in the presence of the Lord.

Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick,  son-in-law Clarence Eddis Bowers and brother Pat Alimonti.  She leaves behind her two siblings: Mary Smith and Theresa Barry.

She is survived by four daughters and one son: Teresa (James) Morabito; Eileen (Mark) Duffy; Kathleen (William) Tetreault; Mary Berndt Bowers; and Frederick W. (Barbara) Berndt, Jr.

Cherished grandchildren:  James (Lauren) Morabito, Michelle Morabito, David (Carolyn) Morabito, James (Sophia) Duffy, Christine (Korey) Wagner, Amanda (Ryan) Michienzi, Stephanie (Patrick) O’Brien, Megan (Emanuel) Georgaroudis, Cheryl L. Bowers (Dale) Nye, Teresa Berndt and Andrena Berndt.  Rose was also blessed with 12 great grandchildren:  Anthony, Ava, Lea, Alicia, Rylee, Olivia, James, Summer, Addisyn, Dylan, Mason, and Emily.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00-8:00pm on Monday, April 30th, with an evening Wake Service.  The Funeral Mass and burial will take place in Peekskill, New York.
