Robert William Drews

Bob Drews, age 67, passed away during his third open heart surgery on June 7, 2018 at Delray Medical Center.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Maria, his daughter Kristen Elkins, her husband Kevin, his only sister Nancy Drews Soler and her husband Ken, niece Stacey Sargeant and fiancée Steve Zemack, great niece Skyler, nephew Jeff Soler and wife Rachel as well as great niece Adelyne.

Born in the Detroit area, Bob moved with his family to South Florida in 1957.  His enthusiasm for sports, beginning with Little League baseball coached by his dad Newt, continued with other sports while at Boca High.  His love of baseball directed him to aspire to playing professionally.  However, his injuries and spinal issues caused him to be sidelined from that career path.  Bob graduated from Boca High in 1969.  He took his love for sports to the City of Boca Raton Parks and Recreational Department where he worked for many years.  His next path directed him to working in the property management field for Century Village in Deerfield Beach followed by a 30 year career with Lennar Homes managing numerous communities throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties.  More recently, he managed a large adult community in Tamarac, Florida, until retiring in 2016.  During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and taking his Great Dane Pepper to the Boynton Inlet daily.

His kindness for animals was illustrated by him in raising many Great Danes during his entire lifetime.  He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and never gave up on his home team.  Bob loved sporty fast cars, owning many, and was a big fan of drag racing, consistently attending the National Drag Racing Finals in Gainesville.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Glick Funeral Home at 3600 North Federal Highway in Boca Raton.
