Richard Sykes

Richard Clayton Sykes, Jr.,70, of Boca Raton, FL and formerly of Cheshire, CT passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 30, 1947, he was the son of Richard Sykes, Sr. and Nancy (Tripner) Sykes.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Phyllis (Solcoff) Sykes, of Boca Raton; his son Robert L. Sykes and his wife Veronica, and their son Eli, of Orlando, FL; his son Richard Sykes III and his wife Dawn, and their son Riley, of North Haven, CT. Richard is predeceased by his father, Richard Sykes, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Sykes, brother Robert Sykes and his wife Dorothy of Burlington, MA; brother-in-law Barry Solcoff and his wife Abby of Newton, MA; and was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Richard’s lifelong passion for jewelry started at a young age and he spent his working career becoming an expert at his craft. He was an avid fan of playing and watching tennis, enjoying any type of disco or Motown music, and loved spending time with his family. He had an unconditional love for his family and friends that could be felt by anyone who knew him. As he would always say, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift which is why we call it the present.”

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 26 at 1:00 PM at the Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33431. A reception will be held at the Sykes residence after the memorial service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
