Marvin Harding, 86, of Boca Raton passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Marvin was born in Rockford IL, on October 18, 1931 to David and Mabel Harding. He joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was eventually stationed in Fort Worth, TX where he met his wife, Jean Harding. After the service, he attended Rockford College, in Rockford IL, and University of Illinois, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Science. At U of I, he worked on the ILLIAC, the first computer owned by a university. Marvin and Jean returned to Texas where they met and then later moved their family to Boca Raton, Florida where they raised children, Stephen and Susan. As a family they belonged to St. Paul Lutheran Church, was a coach in Boca Jets football program, worked professionally with several engineering firms where he had the opportunity to travel and enjoy many amazing places.
Marvin was pre-deceased by wife, Jean Harding, brothers, David and Robert “Eugene” Harding, and step brothers, Melvin, Herbie and step sisters, Irene and Jean. He is survived by son, Stephen Harding and family of Columbia, SC, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Appleby Harding, and grandsons, Matthew Harding and Jacob Harding and daughter, Susan Harding of Boca Raton. He is also survived by one step sister, Joyce Steinhour of Rockford, IL, and Sister-in-Law, Lorraine Harding, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 17 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Boca Raton, Florida.
