Margaret Lorraine Murray, known to friends and family as Lorraine, was born in Ironwood, Michigan on May 12, 1922. She was to be the oldest of 4 children. She loved school and was an excellent student. On weekends, Lorraine enjoyed ice skating in the winter- she was quite the athlete. As a young woman, she moved to Washington, DC to assist with the War effort. She was an expert in shorthand and valued greatly by the Export Office of the Naval Department.
During this time, Lorraine and Paul met as maid of honor and best man at her sister Pat's wedding. The two, soon to be married made plans to move to Fort Lauderdale, FL where Paul would work for Anderson Floor Covering. Lorraine's bridal shower, thrown by colleagues, was even featured in her hometown paper! The featured picture depicts many kitchen items that she would go on to use to prepare decades of spectacular meals for her late husband, son, and surviving daughter, Joan. Lorraine and Paul were married 59 years at the time of his death in 2008. We remember Lorraine as a masterful home cook, loving mother and grandmother, and shrewd bridge player. Those who knew her will remember her involvement at church, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, in the Women's Club, and as a cub scout leader.
She died surrounded by those who loved her. Sweet Lorraine on her way to her dear Paul. Her cuteness and laughter will be missed every day.
Lorraine is survived by her adoring daughter and granddaughter.
