Welcome to the memorial page for

Marcia R. Abbott

September 28, 1934 ~ February 4, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Marcia Reynolds Abbott peacefully passed away Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Tradition Medical Center in Port St, Lucie, Florida. She was 82 years old, a supportive Wife, a loving Mother and “Nana” to her seven grandchildren.  She was also a fun companion who always found time to travel with Jerry on many trips over the years while remaining focused on the needs of her family.

Marcia was a 46-year resident of the South Florida area, including Boca Raton, Highland Beach, and more recently PGA Village in Port St. Lucie. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and began her professional life there as a registered nurse. She married Jerry, her husband of 58 years, in Boston in 1958. After spending 11 years in Kansas City, she and her family moved to South Florida in 1971. Once settled in South Florida Marcia advanced her career to that of a nurse executive where she skillfully balanced “home and work” throughout the remainder of her career. She retired as Director of Central Sterile Supply (CSS) at the Boca Raton Community Hospital in 1989, and later resumed her career as she developed and managed the CSS Department at the Boca Raton Outpatient Surgery and Laser Center. She Retired for the second time in 2003 as she prepared to enjoy the retirement years that followed the “empty nest” period.

Once officially in fulltime retirement mode, Marcia and Jerry continued to travel, visiting family and friends across the Country including occasional trips to Europe both by air and by sea. Marcia’s love of travel recently included a family reunion in both Cape Cod and Cape May this past summer.  Family and friends always enjoyed seeing Marcia and Jerry and their two dogs.

Marcia is survived by her husband Jerry, son Mark and wife Lisa Abbott (of Coral Springs) and daughter Vicki and Jeff Dembiec (of Scotch Plains, New Jersey), seven loving grandchildren; Jason, Lindsay and Logan Abbott and Patrick, Michael, Matthew and Peyton Dembiec and two wonderful shelties, Bravo and Bentley.

A visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, February 9th at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 10 at the Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at the Boca Raton Cemetery.
