Welcome to the memorial page for

Lara Kazancioglu

January 2, 1989 ~ November 9, 2017 (age 28) 28 Years Old

Lara Kazancioglu, 28, of Ann Arbor, MI passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Born in Turkey in 1989, Lara was such an energetic, daring, loving, caring person from the get go. She was always very caring towards all animals and this love followed her through adulthood where she worked with animals as well as volunteering. Lara was always very curious and first to protect her big sister on the playground. She was fearless and would lead the way even when her big sister was scared to try new things she would go ahead and show her the way. Her fearless attitude was evident as soon as 3 years old when she would jump in the pool before we were finished blowing up her floaties. Growing up Lara loved to travel to her favorite place in the world, their families summer house in the south of Turkey. There she would swim as though she was a mermaid and refuse to get out of the water. She was so proud of being Turkish and loved that she had two beautiful lives both here and in Turkey. Lara was so close to her family in Turkey, she loved to sit and talk to her grandfather for hours. Along with her Turkish family, Lara loved sitting back with the cousins and watching the Steffen girls (including our mom) dance to music after Thanksgiving clean ups. Lara had an amazing sense of humor and could imitate anyone with facial expressions or any other mimics. She would be the center of attention all while bringing everyone together and leaving a lasting impressions. Lara and her big sister Serra were very close, all they had to do were look at each other and they could communicate that way. Lara always valued her big sisters opinion and would always want to get her approval before anyone’s. Lara is always remembered as a funny, fun loving, adventurous, kind and caring girl that was just too much for the physical world. Her soul was so kind and she always made sure to help others and even helping others would hurt her she still thought it was best to do so. I hope to be the brave and kind person my little sister IS and will live to be half the person she IS.

P.s- Lara loved Penelope, her furry companion, fiercely. She would enjoy long walks with her, hiking and other outdoor activities. She made sure that Penelope had everything she needed even before thinking of herself. Lara also loved her furry nephews, Oliver and Winston, and would make sure that she was the best aunt for them. She would travel to Chicago just to be with them and would always be so attentive to them. Penelope is now living with her cousins as Lara had wanted.

Love,
Serra, her big sister.
