June Sherman Obituary

June passed peacefully on the morning of May 30th 2018 due to complications with Brain Cancer in Boca Raton, FL. She was predeceased by her first Husband in 1986, Robert M. Blome, Sr. and her second husband in 1998, Robert W. Sherman.

June was born on July 15th 1932 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Dallas Henry Dalton and Verna June Clark – both from Clark County Arkansas with Ancestors hailing from a true Pioneering Heritage.

June is survived by her two brothers Dr. Dallas Henry Dalton, Jr and James Garrison Dalton; and her three sons Robert M Blome, Jr, Dallas Clark Blome, James Scott Blome; and two Grandchildren Austin James Blome and Kelly Renee Blome.

June attended the University of Arkansas and graduated in 1954 with a Business Degree.  She went to work for IBM in St Louis, Mo. as a Salesman being one, if not the, very first non-secretarial hire.  She helped pave the way for women in IBM Corporate culture.  That is where she met and married her first husband Robert Miller Blome, a fellow IBM’er from Baltimore, Md.  They had three boys.

In 1960 they moved to Pleasantville, N.Y. where June stayed at home to raise her three boys and became active in the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother for a number of years. In 1983 the boys were gone from the house and Bob Blome was assigned the task of bringing IBM’s newly formed PC division online in their new facility located on Yamato Rd in Boca Raton, FL.  They moved into a house on the golf course at Boca Del Mar Country Club and June took up Golf and joined the ladies Bridge Club. She also became active in the Grace Community Church (Formerly the First Presbyterian Church of Boca Raton) singing in the choir and serving as a member on the church foundation.  Sadness and grief struck early one November morning in 1986 when she received the call that her 1st husband, Bob Blome had a massive heart attack while making the morning coffee at IBM. He passed away before the staff came in to the office that morning where they found him.

If one is lucky enough to truly fall in Love and find a happy and fulfilling life, then it is surely a miracle when it happens twice.  In 1987 June met Robert W Sherman (President of the Palm Beach Post) on a blind date.  By summer 1988 they were happily married.  June continued with her bridge, Country Club and Church activities.  Eventually golf was replaced by Investing in the Stock Market which she proved to be rather good at. Bob Sherman passed away in 1998. In 2012 June moved into St Andrews Life Care Community and made more new friends.

For the past several months, June had been struggling with her balance and coordination.  When she started losing the use of her right and left hands, an appointment was made with a Neurologist. On May 5th, the Saturday before her appointment, she fell and hit her head. A CAT scan and an MRI were taken to ensure there was no internal bleeding. On May 7th, 2018, June was diagnosed with Inoperable Brain Cancer.

She leaves behind many who loved and admired her beautiful spirit.  She was always thoughtful and caring for others and took a genuine interest in her sons and their families.  She is truly missed and certainly not forgotten. We love you Mama June! God Bless….
