John James Egnatios

John James Egnatios, known as “JJ”, “John John”, and “Iggy”, passed away on the 5th day, of January, 2018 in Highland Beach, FL.  John was 90 years old.

John was born on December 6, 1927 in Caracas, Venezuela.  He was one of three, (Eddie, John, Ellen), beloved children to Simon and Elizabeth Egnatios of Detroit, MI.

John loved life, family, dancing, the Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Lions.  John was passionate about business, law, real estate, golf, and bridge.  While attending law school John and his older brother, Eddie, founded Dobbs Furniture in 1950.  John was a lifetime member at Grosse Isle Golf and Country Club in Michigan.  In Florida, he enjoyed playing golf with the Pinseekers.  John had a kind and gentle spirit with a smile that would light up a room.  He was loved by everyone he met.  You will be missed.

John is survived by the love of his life Jean, her daughter Elaine (Ken), and her son Paul (Linda).  He is also survived by 7 children:  John (Chip), Diane, Martin, Mike, Roger, Mark, and Rick, and his grandchildren:  Brian, Rozlyn, Lisa, Hayley, Danyelle, Anthony, JJ, and Simon, and one great-grandchild Peyton.

A celebration of life and gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Monday, January 8 at the Glick Family Funeral Home, Boca Raton, Details will be posted on the Glick Family Funeral Home website, www.glickfamilyfuneralhome.com.

A memorial service will be held in Grosse Ile, Michigan on a later date will occur later this year.
