John Argeros Obituary

John (Yianni) Argeros, age 71, passed away peacefully on September 1st 2019 at Delray Beach Medical Center.

John was born to his late parents Basilios and Agathi Argeros in Corfu, Greece. At 6 months old the family moved to Hells Kitchen New York. During his teenage years he moved back to Athens, Greece, were his love for sports and especially basketball began. He played for several years for K.G.S. in the second division. After his basketball career ended, he managed a dance club in Corfu.

This is where he met the love of his life in 1977. John ultimately knew that his now wife, would spend the rest of his days laughing and dancing. John and Joan were married in Scotland in 1979 and again in New York in 1980 surrounded by family and friends. They then moved back to Greece where they managed a bar together in the middle of Corfu town. Leaving the bar behind they started a new chapter in 1984 with the birth of their son Vasili and the birth of their daughter Alexia in 1991. Deciding that they wanted to raise their kids in Greece, they moved back as a family in 1992. John's brother Christo also decided to do the same and lived under the same roof for a few years before they decided to move back to the United States in Coral Springs Florida. After 8 years of living in Greece, the family decided that it was time to move back and be closer to his siblings Anastasia and Christo, including his nieces and nephews.

He was a proud member of Saint Marks Greek Orthodox Church and AHEPA. Anyone that knew John seems to have a similar story. He always greeted everyone with a huge hug and a double kiss to make sure that you knew he was genuinely happy to see you. And you also know he loved to talk and reminisce about times that will never fade as he made sure that you heard them at least a couple of times. His energy, his smile and his genuine love for his family and friends were undeniable. John Argeros will be hard to replace as a husband and father.

John's memory is survived by his siblings Anastasia and Christo, his wife Joan and his children Alexia and Vasili.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations to offset the funeral arrangements.
