James (Jim) A. Wilson, of Kellogg, Idaho, age 76 died of cancer on April 17, 2018. Jim is survived by his wife Hilde of Delray Beach, his son Eric and Cary Wilson of Delray Beach, son and wife Chris and Sheri Wilson and grandchildren Nathan and Amber of Wake Forest, NC.
Jim served with the United States Coast Guard from 1960 to 1964 and was stationed in Staten Island, New York where he met his wife Hilde. Hilde and Jim were married November 24, 1966.
Jim, Hilde and the family relocated to Delray Beach from Vermont in 1978 with IBM. Jim was an active member of Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla Six stationed in Boca Raton as well as the Delray Ski Club where he taught many people about boater safety and water skiing. Jim retired from IBM as a customer engineer with 37 years of service in 2004.
After Jim’s retirement he was an active volunteer with the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce including the citizen police patrol, citizen police boat patrol, Christmas Tree celebration set up amongst other civic organizations and activities. He mostly enjoyed working with the Delay Beach Public Library in the young adult programs for over 6 years. Lastly, Jim donated more than 40 gallons of platelets to Oneblood.
A Memorial Gathering is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 from 4 to 6 PM at the Glick Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Flotilla Six, Inc., 3939 North Ocean Boulevard, Boca Raton, FL 33431 in memory of James Wilson.
