Hugh Transou Jr. Obituary

Hugh “Rocky” Flynt Transou Jr, 74, of Delray Beach, FL left for his heavenly home and reached for Jesus’ nail-scarred hand on Sunday, May 5, 2019.

He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Susan Summers Transou, until her passing 4 years ago. He was one of the last chivalrous gentlemen of another era who never met a stranger and was generous beyond measure! He had an infectious smile, a gentle chuckle, a dry wit and was known for his trivia  knowledge! He gave great hugs and much love! He was always the best when it came to directions as he had composed a collection of over 500 maps and loved to travel...Rocky was our own personal GPS! He loved documenting everything with his numerous notes in his tiny handwriting. You could not find a more detailed, meticulous, organized, hard working man- truly one of a kind!

Rocky was born in Asheville, NC on August 1st, 1944, to Hugh Flynt Transou, Sr. and Evelyn Evans Transou. He attended Mars Hill University, Georgia State University and furthered his education with courses throughout his military career. He traveled the world serving our country in the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller.

Recently he has loved working in the family business at American Eagle Fire Protection; was committed to serving in his diocese St. Theresa de Lisieux Catholic Church in Wellington every Sunday as an usher; was a dedicated member of The Knights of Columbus; passionate sports enthusiast; and loved his family well!  But we all know his heart longed for his wife, Sue!

He was survived by his two sisters, Roberta Transou Crafton and Terri Transou, his step-son Paul Stofan, nephew Bobby (Robin) Crafton, niece Lesli (Chad) White, niece Kami (TBD-now accepting applications!) Crafton, brother-in-law Rick (Janet) Summers, brother-in-law David (Lidiia) Summers, sister-in-law Sharon (George) Amery, brother-in-law Mark (Shelli) Summers, sister-in-law Kathleen Fenter, and brother-in-law Matthew Summers and numerous nephew, nieces, and cousins that will miss him greatly.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, May 10th, in the main chapel at the Boca Raton Mausoleum.  Burial will follow at the Boca Raton Cemetery. A reception ”celebration of life” with a light meal will be held at Dave Summers’ house at 364 NW 35th St, Boca Raton, FL 33431. Friends and family are welcome to share love and memories.

We are missing our dear Rocky so much already, but are so excited he is reunited with the love of his life, his family, and our Heavenly Father.
