Gerald Alan Mason

Gerald A. Mason "Jerry", 78, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away October 29, 2017 from complications following surgery.  Jerry was born on August 18, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Springfield, PA.  He received his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Yale University. On December 17, 1966 he married Bonnie Raasch in the Dwight Chapel on the Yale campus.  They resided in Branford, CT for several years and during this time Jerry put his engineering skills to practice for 29 years in sales with Hewlett Packard. Upon retirement, he and his wife retired to Boca Raton, FL where they have resided for 19 years while spending summer months in their home in Branford.  During their 50 years of marriage, they enjoyed extensive traveling, many cultural arts, hosting several festive events but now in later years dining out and dancing several times a week has become a passion.  Jerry had many interests and his enthusiasm for these pastimes influenced those around him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Charles Mason, and sister Carol Pfischner.  He is survived by his wife; other family members include: niece Linda Tobin and daughter Sarah; niece Barbara Hamlett (Frank) and their children Jacob, Michael and Elizabeth; brother in law Henry Pfischner all from State College, PA.  From Delray Beach FL, brother in law Jim Raasch (Bijette).  In addition, he leaves many long-time friends as well as a wonderful circle of Florida friends who have become like family. Jerry will be greatly missed but will be remembered by many for his subtle humor, mild manner, kind and friendly ways. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, November 13 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Boca Raton Regional Hospital where Jerry received special care for the several weeks he was there.
