Frances E. Kuhl quietly passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2018, in Boca Raton, Florida, at the age of 93.
Fran was born in Clifton, New Jersey on August 3, 1924. Fran survived her first husband, Richard Murdoch, a B-29 navigator who died in the Korean War, and her second husband, Albert F. B. Kuhl, a pilot who also died in an airplane accident. As a military wife and homemaker, Fran resided in many places in the U.S. She called New Jersey, California, Texas, Arizona, and for the last 55 years, Fort Lauderdale, Vero Beach, and Boca Raton, Florida “home”. Coincidentally, she first resided in Boca Raton in 1945 for Dick’s brief rehab assignment upon return from his POW release from Germany. Like many of the Greatest Generation, she experienced more than a fair share of trials and setbacks, but was resilient and always persevered, buoyed by her ability to jest at her own circumstances, with her remarkable conviviality reflected by her unofficial standing as Lago Mar Hotel’s beach bar social director over several decades.
She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Kuhl. She is survived by her sons, Richard Murdoch (Kathy) and Robert Murdoch (Alice), 6 grandchildren (Elizabeth, Katherine, Mary, Andrew, Conor, and Karen), and 3 great-grandchildren (Parker, Ari and Benjamin), and her brother, Duane Weise (Jane) of Vero Beach.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 9 at St. Andrews South in Boca Raton, followed by interment of ashes at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Davie, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice By The Sea Foundation, Inc.
