On June 17, 1950, she married the love of her life, Clyde Purcell Watts.  Jo was predeceased by her son Brent Edison Watts in 1999.

Jo and Clyde raised their boys in Paducah, KY before retiring to Deland, FL in 1985.  In Deland, Jo and Clyde were very active in their church, First Presbyterian.  In March of 2016 they relocated to St. Andrews Estates in Boca Raton, FL.
