Eula Joe Hughes Watts joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 28, 2018. Jo was a devout Christian and lived her faith daily with her kindness and love for others. Her greatest joy came from being with her family and friends. Her husband, Clyde, said that “Jo’s hobby was her love and joyful affection for people”.
Jo was born to Colville Robertson and Homer Hughes on August 13, 1928 in Carrollton, KY. Jo grew up in Carrollton and spent much of her time with her grandparents in Maysville, KY. Jo graduated from Maysville High School and attended the University of Kentucky, where she was active in the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan and knew all the UK players by their names.
On June 17, 1950, she married the love of her life, Clyde Purcell Watts. Jo was predeceased by her son Brent Edison Watts in 1999.
Jo and Clyde raised their boys in Paducah, KY before retiring to Deland, FL in 1985. In Deland, Jo and Clyde were very active in their church, First Presbyterian. In March of 2016 they relocated to St. Andrews Estates in Boca Raton, FL.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clyde; son, Ronald Craig Watts (Jenny); daughter in law, Felicia Watts; grandchildren, Ashley Wilson Watts, Allyson Watts Smith (Casey), Kyle David Watts (Adreanna), Lauren Whitney Watts and one great grandson, Ford Edison Smith. In addition, Jo is survived by her brother, Ronald D. Hughes (Shirley), niece Alisa Hughes Richardson (Joe) and nephew, Keith Hughes (Charlotte).
A celebration of her life will be held at Grace Community Church of Boca Raton on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10:30 AM. Family request that you wear bright, cheerful colors as Jo sparkled and shone brightly amongst us.
Her family also request in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Grace Community Church of Boca Raton, 600 W. Camino Real, Boca Raton, FL 33486 for the Mission Ministry.
