Elinor Somma, 71, passed away at Holy Cross Hospital on Friday, July 27, 2018. Elinor was born in Brooklyn, New York and named after her beloved grandfather, Eli Nor. She was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Sarah J. Hale High School. She went on to cosmetology school; she enjoyed many years as a hairdresser.
Elinor moved to South Florida. She loved horses and going to the horse track and casinos brought her great joy – winning was even better! Elinor loved animals; besides horses, she loved Old English Sheep dogs and of course, her cat “Betsy Puss Puss”, who passed away within hours of Elinor.
Travel was always fun with Elinor around, her favorite place to vacation was Aruba. She loved good food – especially dessert! She loved her Volkswagen Bug and enjoyed the study of Astrology.
Elinor is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Bresnihan of Boca Raton. Waiting to greet her at the gates of Heaven are her parents, John and Doris Somma and her brother Anthony Somma. She will be laid to rest in the family plots of Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
Donations in her memory would be appreciated to the Humane Society of Treasure Coast (hstc1.org).
