Edwin Ewald Zielske, Jr., 93, of Boca Raton, FL passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.
Mr. Zielske was born on August 27, 1926 in Rochester, Minnesota to the late Edwin and Esther Zielske. He graduated from Concordia College, River Forest, Illinois with a BS in Education and did extensive coursework, earning a MS equivalency in School Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
During World War II, he served his country in the communications division of the USS Bunker Hill, an Essex class carrier.
Mr. Zielske’s 35-year professional life was dedicated to Christian education, serving as a teacher, principal, choir director, and Bible class leader. He was a consultant for the Lutheran Schools and served as the Associate President for the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
During President Jimmy Carter’s presidency, He was invited to the White House for his role in formulating the Council for American Private Education.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, and three sons, Nathan; Scott and wife Susan, Greg and wife Ann; five grandchildren; Electra, Amanda, Greg Jr., Jessica, Carly, ; three great grandchildren; Zinnia, Elizabeth, and Zayden.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 17 at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33431 with Rev. Dennis Glick officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:00 PM at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
