Edwin Cunningham Obituary

Edwin William Cunningham (52) March 13, 1966 - February 18, 2019

Ed ascended into Heaven on Monday, February 18, 2019. He was a beloved and respected father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend.

Ed, the son of Edwin Robert and Beverly (Burke) Cunningham was a lifelong resident of South Florida. As a boy, Ed played on many local area football, baseball, soccer and basketball teams and excelled at all sports. His athletic ability earned him many superior awards.

Ed attended Saint Ambrose Catholic School in Deerfield Beach and served Saint Ambrose Church as an altar boy to the late Father Bryan Dalton.

Ed spent his freshman and sophomore years at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale where he made friendships that would last a lifetime. He graduated in the class of 1984 from Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton. Ed went on to earn a Business Degree in 1988 from Florida State University, Tallahassee.  He was a staunch member of Sigma Chi Fraternity where he was loved and respected.

Ed will always be the proud father of Ryan and Sean William Cunningham.  The time they spent together on various adventures, sporting events and vacations were treasured times, the highlights of Ed’s life. The two words Ed uttered most often were “My Boys!”

Nurturing and educating his sons and coaching their various team sports and spending time with his nieces, nephews and family brought him so much joy.  Ed lived by the four “F” motto; Faith, Family, Friends and FSU Football! His outgoing personality, wicked sense of humor and embellished stories attracted many loyal and loving friends. His dynamic personality and gift of gab throughout his life contributed to a very successful career and earned him the highest awards. Year after year Ed was Sherwin Williams’ top salesman.

As an avid golfer, Ed’s love for the game took him on travels throughout the US and Europe where he played some of the finest courses from Ireland to Scotland and from Pinehurst to Pebble Beach. Ed enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and truly lived life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his friends and family cheering for the Florida State Seminoles, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.  Ed had a strong sense of community. He served in a variety of positions including Deputy Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 4955.

Ed is predeceased by his father Edwin Robert Cunningham and survived by his beloved mother, Beverly (Burke) Cunningham; his two sisters, Meghan Smith and Shelagh (Scott) Adams of Boca Raton, Fl; his two sons, Ryan and Sean William Cunningham; and his nieces and nephews: Conall and Caroline Smith, Kaitlin, Sarah, Matt and Lilly Adams; his Uncle Jack (Betty) Burke and Aunt Carol (Justus) Hoyt and cousins, aunts, uncles and countless loyal friends.
