Edith Marie Castellano

Edith Marie Velardi Castellano was born on October 3, 1930 in Hamden Connecticut,  to parents Nicholas Velardi and Giovannina (Jennie) Ruotolo. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in New Haven Connecticut and then went on to attend University of Miami where she met her husband,  Maurice Castellano.  They married in 1950, and resided in Miami Beach, since 1959.  She is survived by her 6 children Robert, John, Mark, Bill, Joan, & Jane, 19 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.  Preceeded in death by her brother Leonard Velardi. She was President of the Patrician Club and of the PTA at St. Patrick’s School, Volunteer worker at Miami Heart Institute, Member of the Young Patroness of the Opera, The Once Theater Arts League of Miami and The Ballet Society, Member of the Marion Center Auxiliary for Children, Chair Lady of Women’s Golf at LaGorce and Buck Hill Falls Country Club. Long time member of The Surf Club, LaGorce Country Club,  Buck Hill Falls, and Boca Grove.

She was Vibrant, Happy, Loving, and Kind, with a great sense of humor.  We will never forget her laugh and smile, and how she loved her family.  She will be remembered as the Matriarch of the Castellano Family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday,  October 5, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton.  A reception will follow at Boca Grove Country Club.
