Dale Benson Obituary

Dale L. Benson, 95, of Boca Raton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 with loved ones holding his hands.

Dale was preceded by his parents John and Ida Benson, his beloved wife Janette (Jan) and son Gary. Dale is survived by daughter Kristine (Kevin) Hennessy and son Steven (Ann) Benson. Also surviving Dale are seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dale was born in Warren, Minnesota on July 30,1923. Dale was a hundred percent Swedish and was so proud of his heritage. He boosted that he made the best Swedish pancakes around, and he was right!

Dale enlisted in the Army Air Corps. in 1944 and was honorably discharged two years later. He was being trained as a pilot. He never forgot his Serial number, it even gave him free entrance into "The Wings of Freedom Tour' at the Boca Raton Airport.

Dale married Jan on August 28,1948 in Footville, Wisconsin. Dale worked the family farm in Wisconsin for seven years. Dale decided farming was not to be in his future so he packed up his family and headed to Rockford, Illinois. Dale became a respected and prominent custom home builder.

In 1964 Dale and Jan moved the family to Florida to start a manufacturing business which became known as 'Florida Screw Manufacturing Co." The company started out in Orlando, Florida and was later moved to Pompano Beach, Florida. The company was extremely successful and very much respected in the industry.

Dale embraced the Florida life style and spent many years boating the surrounding waters with Jan. Dale was a member of and a Past Commodore of the 'Seabird Yacht Club.' He and all his boats were known as 'The Fla Kidd.'

After giving up the water Dale and Jan traveled the land by Motorcoach. Dale kept trading up his coaches through those forty years and ended with a 45 foot Prevost Coach. Dale and Jan traveled throughout the United States. They were members of the Rollin Gators, The Prevost Prouds, Royale Coach Club, Featherlite Club and the FMCA. These were many happy years for Dale, he made many friends through Motorcoaching and the Rally's he and Jan attended.

Dale also would travel by Motorcoach to his and Jan's home in Lake Lure, North Carolina.  They would spend part of the year there before heading back to Boca to spend the holiday's with their family.

Many years after Jan's passing Dale traveled to Sweden, Iceland and other parts of Europe with family friend Fran Wolfram, who passed away a few years ago.

Dale was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend. Dale will be remembered for his kind, generous, unselfish ways. He had unconditional love for his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit.

Near the end Dale said  'I hope I have a good landing.' At the time of Dale's passing he squeezed the hands of the loved ones who were with him. This sweet beautiful soul will truly be missed by many.
