Charles Conrad Sonntag III
Charles Sonntag III (Chuck) of Boca Raton, FL passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and three children on July 12, 2018. He was 62 years old.
Chuck was born in Los Angeles, California to Charles Sonntag II and Dolores Drugg. He grew up in Granada Hills, CA and graduated college at California State University, Northridge with a bachelors degree in speech communications. Shortly thereafter, he took a job with Herman Miller as a salesman in Los Angeles County. While working for Herman Miller on a business call in 1980, he met, as he put it, “the most beautiful girl I ever laid eyes on!” Teresa C. Drake. Falling madly in love, they would soon start a beautiful family and relocate to San Diego. Wise beyond his years, with an infectious personality, he quickly became successful, and in 1989, riding on those successes, he and his family were relocated to Boca Raton, Florida to stand up a satellite office.
In 1994, Chuck decided to open his own office furniture company named Recycled Alternative Corporate Environments (R.A.C.E.) in east Boca Raton, Florida. Pouring his blood, sweat, and tears into his company, R.A.C.E. Would become the lifeblood of his family. Through it, Chuck would make some of his closest and best friends, most of which he still spoke to daily until his passing.
On his off time, Chuck could be found in the company of his family and friends. He had a deep passion for sports and loved the Miami Dolphins, Marlins, and Heat. He loved people, helping anyone he knew in any way he could. During his younger years he had an immense passion for surfing and could be found searching for the perfect wave at any one of the Southern California beaches. In his later years, his passion shifted to motorcycles and he could always be found cruising the south Florida streets.
Chuck will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 34 years, Terri and his three children Chase, Adam, and Kristin, and his six grandchildren, Leighton, Jaxson, Ava, Sophia, Brooke, and Sara.
A memorial service will be held Monday July 16th beginning with a reception at 6 pm and the memorial service at 7 pm at the Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton, Florida. Anyone whose life was touched by Chuck is welcome to attend.
