Carl Massi Obituary

Carl Albert Massi, 68, of Boca Raton, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at his home.

Carl was born in Sewickley, Pa, on March 16, 1951 to Marguerite Farrell Massi and Carl Charles  Massi.  He graduated from Quaker Valley High School in 1969 and moved to Florida where he attended The University of Tampa. Following college Carl and several partners purchased The Islands Club nightclub, hotel and restaurant in Tampa which they owned and ran for several years. Those were some great fun filled and prosperous years!  If only those walls could talk!

Following those great times Carl came to Boca Raton and secured a sales position with Dyno Merchandise Corporation in Pompano Beach, Fl.  His extreme wit, and contagious personality and sales knowledge eventually moved him up the ladder of success and ultimately he and 3 partners purchased the company from the owners.

It was during this time that Nancy Sarazen, the love of his life, came into the picture (1981).Through all the following years their love story unfolded and was strong until the day Carl passed 37 years later with Nancy at his side after fighting a courageous 2 year battle against a rare and aggressive cancer. Carl is survived by one brother, Craig Carroll and his wife Tania, Nancy Sarazen, his sweetheart and her children, Gene Sarazen III, Susie Bamdas and Geoffrey Sarazen( who predeceased him in 2013).  also 4 grandchildren Britt, Bryce and Mary Landis Sarazen  and Tyler Bamdas.  In addition a niece, Hilary Ruggiero and nephew, Tommy Carroll.

Carl and Nancy built a lovely second home in North Carolina and spent many happy times there with family and their great NC neighbors.  Carl loved the peacefulness and quiet of the mountains.

Playing golf and watching Pittsburgh Steelers games were 2 of his favorite past-times.  He was also a great cook and loved most of all the big family holiday dinners and get togethers with all the kids.   Always the life of every party, his infectious  laugh could be heard through the house!

Eventually, Carl and his partners sold Dyno Merchandise Company and retired only to realize he could only play just so much golf!  So he got his real estate license and joined Nancy at Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate where together they successfully sold homes and had a great time together doing it!

Carl was so loved by everyone who knew him.....such a special, unique, and gentle man.  He will be so missed by so many.  Rest in Peace, my Love.

A gathering of family and friend will be held from 1-2 PM on Saturday, May 11 at the Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton where a service and celebration of Carl's life will begin at 2:00 PM.  A reception and gathering will be held at the home of Susie and David Bamdas, 1033 SW 16th Street, Boca Raton following the service.  All are welcome.
