James Guttuso, D.D.S, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024. James was born in Buffalo, NY. Was the son of Joseph & Ida Guttuso. James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucy J. Guttuso; his children Joseph and spouse Debbie, James, John and spouse Kristy, Michelle, Gina, Paul and spouse Trinia, and Peter (predeceased) and 10 grandchildren Maegan McConnell, Madeleine Guttuso, Joseph Guttuso, Isabella Brown, John Guttuso, Peter Guttuso, Christopher Guttuso, Anthony Guttuso, Matthew Guttuso, Paul Guttuso.
He was an Endodontist in Buffalo, NY until moving his family and practice to South Florida in 1979. James served in the United States Navy. He Was a dental professor at the University of Buffalo, had a successful private practice in Buffalo, NY and then South Florida. His love for teaching was throughout his life and included an extended time period in Tokyo, Japan teaching at the University of Tokyo the art and science of Endodontics and eventually becoming a professor at Nova Southeastern University. Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and children and loved photography, scuba diving, fishing and the pursuit of his genealogy. He was involved in many organizations such as President of The American Association of Endodontics, being a President of Il Circolo, Sicilian American Cultural Society, and Eucharist Minister of the Catholic Church
His ultimate love and passion was his wife and family. He died surrounded by their love and holding the Crucifix in hope of it’s glory.
A Roman Catholic Mass will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Highland Beach, FL on Thursday March 21, 2024 at 11:30 AM with burial immediately following at the Boca Raton Mausoleum.
