George left us Thursday, September 12. He was surrounded by his family and the music he loved, as he peacefully passed on, reuniting with his Pops and countless other departed family and friends. He is survived by his three beautiful daughters, Rebecca, Laura, and Amy, brothers Joseph and Michael, sisters Charlotte, Peggy and Mary, mother Eleanor, fiancee Cindy Broderick, 'step-sons' Craig and David, grandson Bradley, granddaughter Daniella, brothers-in-law Billy and Bill, sisters-in-law Lisa and Stephanie, nieces Allyson, Jessica, Sandra, Emily, Noelle, nephews Daniel, Parker, Steven, Wil and Jaylin, his best friend "Bear dog" and countless other loving relatives, co-workers and friends.

George was a devout Christian who had a deep faith and a personal relationship with God. He attended St. Joan of Arc School, Cardinal Gibbons HS, and FAU. Together with his Dad and Brother Joe, he created Dirty Moe's Oyster Boat, and remained in the food industry the rest of his life. He was passionate about his family above all else. He was dedicated to his children, who were the pride of his life. He was devoted to his Mom, who called him 'Dependable George'; he would drop everything to come over and fix a light-bulb or a sprinkler for her. He loved his Dad and confidant, and spent hours by his gravesite - a grieving that has now become a joyful reunion. He cherished his sisters and had a unique, often-times goofy personal relationship with each of them. His best friends were his bros, who shared his other two passions: Dolphin's football and any-kind-of-fishing.

To know George was to know his quick wit, rapid-fire jokes, and great big heart right on his sleeve. You didn't have to guess where he stood on any issue, and you didn't have to wonder what he thought about you.

George is now at peace after a fearless fight with cancer. Our family is deeply wounded by his passing and there is an unimaginable void in our world. We do not grieve for him, but for ourselves.

While at mass earlier this month George echoed the call of his life: "Gotta keep the faith". Right on, Georgie, right on.

A visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, September 19th at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton with a Wake Service to be held at 7:00 pm.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, September 20th at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton.  Burial will follow at the Boca Raton Cemetery.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the UF Foundation designated for the Yarb Cancer Research Fund #016118, PO Box 14425, Gainesville, FL  32604,

One of George's favorite songs was George Strait's "Love Without End, Amen". Please feel free to listen at the following link:

Sincere sympathy to the entire Danciu family--George was one of my first students at St. Joan of Arc School. His entire family have always shown me love and devotion and shared generously their gifts and talents. I have many happy memories of good times at Dirty Moes and at numerous family celebrations which included George. We always had a "good chat" whenever our paths crossed. It's not fair when we outlive our children and former students. May he rest in peace and may his family know he was loved even outside his close knit family. In love and friendship I remain his his former teacher and friend, Mrs. Davidson

Fifteen years ago I met Peggy when our boys became best friends in kindergarten. Since then, I've had the pleasure of getting to know the entire Danciu family as the years went by. I admired George for his love and devotion to his family, especially to his daughters and grandson, Bradley. He was such a happy, nice guy. From family get-togethers, to tailgates, George always made you feel welcomed. His strength and will to beat this dreaded disease was admirable. George, you will be missed, not only by your family, but also, by those whose lives you touched with your genuine kindness and expression of selflessness. May you be full of joy in the company of your dad, and others in your family who went before you.

We are so sorry Peggy. We did not know your brother but we enjoyed times with you Peggy, Bill and Steven. Life is so short and for your brother George way too short. Sending you big hugs Peggy and know we are so sorry that God called your brother home way too soon. The Hutto and Danciu families now have a really cool guardian angel now watching over all of you and what a wonder guardian angel you now have. Be well. Thinking of you often.

To our precious cousins, we send our heart felt sympathy and prayers. Though we live so far apart, our hearts are united with yours in sorrow and grief at the loss of your dear one. As you so eloquently said, you can rest in the fact that Emil and George are sharing stories and love, happily together again. God send His peace and comfort during this time of loss.

I can think of no words to properly express my sympathy to all of you back in Boca for the loss of George. He was a big, cheerful, positive man who had a way of putting people at ease and the void he leaves must hurt so much. The Dancius are a tight bunch, stay tight and hold each other up. You will be in my thoughts and prayers over the next few days.
I'm so so sorry.

Dear Danciu family: Oh Wow, the Danciu family is literally iconic. A cultural representation of our Boca days. Although it's been many years since those days spent at Dirty Moes with one or another Danciu at the helm, I still feel deeply the loss of one of the Icons from my past. The last time I saw George was on St. Patrick's Day this year at St. Vincent Ferrar church in the band tent. He walked up to me in his celebratory St. Paddy's day garb and asked me to dance. I didn't recognize him and prudishly told him that I couldn't dance with him because my boyfriend was there. He said, "Joanne, it's me George", and then proceeded to give me the biggest bear hug. Every time I think about that encounter with George I have to laugh full out and smile. He was truly a social person, always making you feel important and loved. He has now crossed the bar (reference Crossing the Bar by Alfred Lord Tennyson).

We will miss one more Danciu icon!

Love Joanne Price Dillard AKA JoJo

I am so sorry to hear of George's passing. Deepest sympathies to Mrs. Danciu, siblings and family. George and I were good friends in Grade School and High School. We often times would spend the night at each others house. George had a great sense of humor we would laugh for hours. We also played Boca city sports together (my father coached us for 2 yrs. in Little League Baseball). May the peace and comfort of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with all the family and friends. Rest in peace my friend George!

He promises in John 5:28,29, Revelation 21:4,5 and Isaiah 25:8 to bring your dearly beloved George back to life in the resurrection right here on earth and swallow up death, sickness and sorrow forever.
