Zohrab Balaban, 78 of Boca Raton passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2017.  He was an amazing man, truly selfless and caring, who always put others before himself.

Zohrab was born in Jarabulus, Syria on October 4th 1939 to Haroutioun and Azadouhi Balabanian. His family moved to Aleppo, Syria when he was 19 years old. He then served in the Syrian military for the next 2 years followed by the next 29 years working as a machinist in Aleppo. His lifelong passions were his family and his faith. In 1989 Zohrab brought his family to South Florida where he owned and ran the restaurant Middle Eastern Delights along with his wife. In 2004 he returned to Syria with Zofinar, leaving their son to attend college in Gainesville. Zohrab was able to return to the United States on November 23, 2012 to reunite with his son.  He spent his well earned retirement with his beloved family, faithfully attending his much loved church, St. David Armenian Church and challenging his son to endless games of backgammon at every opportunity.

He is survived by his only son, George Balaban and wife of 40 years, Zofinar Koziyan. Zohrab also has two treasured grandchildren, Gabriel Zohrab Balaban and Andre Christopher Balaban.

He lived a full life always surrounded by his very loving family. He will be missed dearly.
