Virginia Louise Reid

Virginia Feldmann Reid was born in Jamaica, New York on July 9, 1925.  She grew up on Long Island and had two children, Sue and Thomas.  Later as a single mom she attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated from William and Mary University in Williamsburg, Virginia.  While there she married a young Naval Aviator, Jack M. Reid on November 23, 1955.  Upon graduation the family of four moved to Vermillion, South Dakota where Jack Reid attended medical school. Virginia taught kindergarten, first and second grade in one room in the small farming community of Meckling, South Dakota.

From South Dakota the family moved to Miami, Florida for Jack to continue his medical education at the University of Miami.  Younger son John Scott Reid was born while the family was in Miami.  The Reid family then moved to Jacksonville, Florida for Jack's internship with the United States Navy.  The family moved to the small town of Boca Raton, Florida around 1959.  Younger daughter Norma was born in Boca.

Upon retirement Virginia and Jack had a summer home in Blairsville, Georgia and a winter home in the Florida Keys.

Virginia passed away shortly before midnight, June 10, 2017.  She is survived by daughters Sue and Norma and son Thomas.  Son John Scott predeceased her.  There are four grandchildren, Kristen, Suzanne, John Michael and Jennifer, and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Olivia.

A celebration of life will be held at the Glick Family Funeral Home on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 4:30 PM.  Reception to follow at Crosswinds Clubhouse, 1850 Homewood Blvd., Delray Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County.
