Sandra Thomas of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away Tuesday, February 28. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Marc Fedderman; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Cagno; her son, Christopher Thomas; 11 grandchildren: Mary, Chelsea, Jessica, Jessie, Chance, Josh, Cameron, Michael, Trinity, Johnny, and Trevor; and 4 great grandchildren.
Sandra was born and raised in Astoria, Queens. She spent her days surrounded by family: her mother and father, Josephine and Pasquale Cacace; her brothers, Charlie and Dom; and her lifelong friend Rosemarie Azzopardi.
Sandra dedicated her life to helping others. She entered Saint Luke's Nursing School in 1959, and after graduation, Sandra began her career as a registered nurse. She would spend the next fifty years working in hospitals and doctors' offices, treating her patients with kindness and compassion. As the head nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami, and throughout her illustrious career, she exhibited these traits.
To Sandra, nothing was more important than family. She served as an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. Sandra was a constant and encouraging presence at family events, a cheerleader at countless baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball games, and a generous mentor to all who sought her advice. She will be missed gravely and remembered fondly. She was--and will be--forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, Sandra's family asks for donations to Trustbridge Hospice in her name.
