Ronald E. Buffington

Ronald Edwin Buffington, age 74 passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 5:45 am.  He was born near Elizabethville, Pennsylvania on February 22, 1943 to the late Edwin and Sally Buffington. 

After high school, Ronald enrolled at Penn State University in Dairy Science, graduating with a B.S. degree in 1965.  He then enrolled at Virginia Tech Institute, earning a M.S. degree in Dairy Science in 1967. He then joined the faculty of Virginia Tech in Dairy Science.  Later he enrolled at Michigan State University where he earned a PH.D. degree in Dairy Science in 1973.   Ronald had worked with animals all his life and was devoted to the betterment of animal feed and vitamins on a natural basis.  He worked in sales as a senior director for Conklin Industries for 28 years devoting his life to cows and their health.

Beloved husband of Naomi Buffington.  Dear father of Ronald K. Buffington (Julie) of Charlotte, NC, and predeceased by his daughter Lorelea Buffington in 2005. Proud grandfather of Campbell and Marley Buffington.   Ron is also survived by four stepdaughters; Shelly Brown of Canton, MI., Pamela White (Steve) of Boca Raton, FL., Kim Waterman of Statesville, NC, stepson Mark (Bethanie) Goodson of Dublin, OH and Tara Borghese (Chris) of Temecula, CA.  He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Dear brother of Jean (Fred) Weaver of Elizabethville, PA, Elma (Dale) Umholtz of Mount Joy, PA, and brother Dennis (Anna Carol) Buffington of Centre Hall, PA.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, and information will be updated as available.
